LATTERIA SORESINA CELEBRATES ITS 125TH ANNIVERSARY

LATTERIA SORESINA – AN EXAMPLE OF AGGREGATION AND GROWTH FOR ITALIAN PDOs
Latteria Soresina celebrated 125 years of activity at a packed Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona, capturing the essence of the cooperative’s rapid growth with an entertaining event that summarised data, names, and actions.

On February 5, 2025, Latteria Soresina celebrated a significant milestone: 125 years of activity since its foundation, a history of passion, tradition and innovation that accompanied generations of producers, employees and consumers. 125 years without ever stopping for even a day! To mark this exceptional anniversary, the company has organised a range of activities leading up to a special event that took place yesterday at the Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona.

The event, aimed at Members, staff, and representatives from key local and national institutions, offered a chance to revisit the most important milestones in the cooperative’s history, emphasise the strong bond with the local area, its values, and the future outlook.

The event, in addition to the speeches by the President of Latteria Soresina Tiziano Fusar Poli and the General Manager, Michele Falzetta, set in the theatrical framework of Massimialiano Pegorini accompanied by the music of the maestros Pier Cristiano Basso Ricci and Nicola Rossetti, featured the institutional addresses of the Minister of Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida, the President of the Lombardy Region Attilio Fontana, the President of Confcooperative Maurizio Gardini and the Mayor of Cremona Andrea Virgilio, along with a thought-provoking discussion on the future by Prof Giuliano Noci.

During the evening, participants were gifted the monograph of the Soresina company, penned by Giuseppe Maghenzani. This unique text revisits the past and present through the values and visions that have shaped the company’s development, focusing on principles rather than mere data. The book, filled with anecdotes, stories of individuals, pictures, and testimonials, primarily celebrates the worth of individuals, members, staff, and all stakeholders who, over the years, as a united team, have shaped Latteria Soresina into what it is today.

During the evening, it emerged how important the paths undertaken in the growth of Latteria Soresina have been, such as a strategy focused on high value-added dairy products and in particular on the PDOs of which, with Grana Padano, the Cremonese cooperative is the absolute leading producer. Meanwhile, the company has not only managed to capitalise on market signals, but has also played a key role in supporting their value through a policy of aggregation, efficiency, development, innovation, brand and a very careful and well-synchronised commercial approach. Moreover, the board of the Soresina company highlighted how the essential element of this success was thanks to an integrated and interdependent company system, consisting of shared values, culture, and vision.

The displayed data was remarkable: Back in 2000, Latteria Soresina achieved a turnover of €80 million, and by 2024, it had closed a group consolidated figure of around €600 million. In 2024, the Export turnover has risen to €141 million from less than €10 million in 2000.

In the past 13 years, the price of milk established by Latteria Soresina remained on average 9.2% higher than the market price.

“This anniversary represents not only a historic milestone, but also a starting point towards the future,” says the President of Latteria Soresina Tiziano Fusar Poli “It is a moment to celebrate the work of all those who have contributed to the success of our cooperative: from the Members who carry on the dairy traditions, to the employees who guarantee the quality of our products every day, to the consumers who choose us with confidence.”

The CEO Michele Falzetta did not fail to emphasize the importance, in this last decade of continuous market changes, of having an innovative approach to corporate management, a cross-cutting involvement of all employees, and the determination for evolution by seizing opportunities such as digital transformation and ecological transition.

The market doesn’t stop for those who dwell on past achievements; every day is seen as if it were the first. In a market that is constantly evolving in terms of consumption, technologies, and business models, strategic thinking must always take precedence.
